AT A GLANCE

A leading global CPG enterprise operating in 60+ countries across geographies needed to simplify a fragmented, high-cost data & analytics estate while creating a stronger foundation for AI-led value creation. ITC Infotech helped modernize its Enterprise Data Platform on Microsoft Fabric, moving the organization to a unified, governed, and reusable data platform model that improved platform cost, performance, stability, data accuracy, and analytics delivery speed.

THE NEED FOR CHANGE

Fragmented data estate hindered scale and AI readiness

A global CPG enterprise had outgrown its complex, multi-technology data platform. Although the environment had replaced manual reporting with centralized data capabilities, multiple tools, orchestration layers, and warehouse dependencies were increasing cost and operational risk.

  • Platform run costs growing to 40% above the industry benchmark
  • Complex orchestration across 13,329 processing tasks
  • Oversight fragmented across 5,000+ localized BI products and solutions
  • Over 50% of incidents linked to job failures
  • Over 70% of effort spent on data processing

The existing data democratization model also led to inter-dependencies, duplication, inconsistent oversight, and quality issues across individual warehouses and jobs. Data teams were spending more time acquiring and processing data than generating business insights.

The business needed a simpler, governed, and reusable AI-ready data foundation.

ARCHITECTING THE TRANSFORMATION

A unified data platform powered by Microsoft Fabric for reusable, governed data products

We helped build a unified AI powered data Platform on Microsoft Fabric, bringing together capabilities across Data Factory, Synapse Data Engineering, Synapse Data Science, Synapse Data Warehouse, Synapse Real-Time Analytics, Power BI, Data Activator, and OneLake. More than a platform migration, it transformed the enterprise data landscape into a centralized, governed, and reusable data foundation, making trusted data products accessible across the enterprise.

The operating model shifted from data as a service delivery to reusable data products. AI-led migration accelerated code conversion, validation, and testing, with a Digital Command Center providing monitoring, traceability, and visibility across data flows. The transformation also strengthened data governance through data contract-based onboarding, with Fabric data agents continuously managing data quality.

With coverage across 60+ countries across geography, 50,000 engineering jobs/ workloads and more than 10000+ enterprise BI users, the program represents one of the earliest and largest enterprise data platform implementations on Microsoft Fabric globally.
